A premium, in-house equestrian experience for developing riders

At Alkira Adina Equestrian, we believe great riders are not defined by ribbons alone, but by how they care, prepare, and partner with their horse.

The Alkira Horsemanship Show Series has been thoughtfully designed to offer riders an authentic show experience, without the need to own or lease a horse. This is a rare opportunity to step into the world of equestrian competition while developing the foundations that truly matter.

This is not simply about performance.
It is about horsemanship in action.

A Premium, Limited Experience

To protect both the quality of learning and the wellbeing of our horses, this program is strictly limited.

  • Maximum of 3 riders per horse across the full day

  • Small group learning with a 1:3 staff-to-rider ratio

  • Carefully matched horses based on rider experience

This ensures every participant receives meaningful support, time, and connection with their horse.

What Riders Are Judged On

Riders are assessed across both days, with a strong emphasis on horsemanship.
All scoring is guided by a clear rubric to ensure consistency and fairness.

Participants are evaluated on:

  1. Horse Care & Preparation
    (cleaning, presentation, attention to detail)

  2. Turnout & Tack Presentation
(pride in appearance of both horse and equipment)

  3. Handler Positioning & Safety
(awareness, safe leading, and decision making)

  4. Communication & Partnership
(how effectively the rider works with and responds to their horse)

  5. Rider Position & Balance (ridden or in-hand equivalent)
    (body awareness, control, and stability)

  6. Application of Skills & Problem Solving
(ability to adapt, think, and respond throughout the experience)

A detailed judging rubric is used to support transparency and guide learning.

Program Structure

Each Show Series event runs across two carefully designed days:

Day 1: Preparation & Horsemanship (2 Hours)

Riders work in small groups to prepare their horse for competition.

They will:

  • Wash and present their horse

  • Learn and practise plaiting

  • Clean and check tack

  • Develop an understanding of what judges look for

This day builds the foundation of responsibility, attention to detail, and pride in presentation.

Day 2: Show Day Experience

Riders step into a structured competition environment, including:

Horsemanship Class (In-Hand)

  • Leading, handling, and presentation

  • Safety, awareness, and communication

Ridden Class (Optional)

  • Balance, control, and partnership

  • Application of riding skills in a show setting

Riders may choose to complete a second in-hand class if they prefer not to ride.

Scores are combined across all elements, recognising consistency, effort, and partnership.

A Series with Purpose

The Alkira Adina Horsemanship Show Series runs across the year, with riders encouraged to

Why This Experience Matters

This program develops riders who:

  • Take responsibility for their horse, not just their ride

  • Understand preparation, not just performance

  • Communicate, problem solve, and adapt in real time

  • Build confidence through doing, not just being told

It offers something many riders never access:

A genuine opportunity to experience a complete show journey
- from paddock to presentation, from preparation to partnership.

Do I/ Does my child need to ride to participate?

No.

While ridden classes are available for those who wish to participate, riding is only one part of horsemanship.

Groundwork, horse handling, preparation, communication, safety awareness, and partnership skills are equally valued within the Alkira Adina Horsemanship Show Series.

Participants may choose to complete in-hand classes only, with scoring adapted appropriately to reflect their pathway and participation.

What should participants wear?

We understand equestrian attire can become expensive very quickly, and we aim to keep the experience accessible while still encouraging neat presentation and pride in appearance.

Participants are asked to wear:

  • a navy, white, or black polo top

  • cream, white, navy, black, or grey jodhpurs or leggings

Boots are preferred, however clean black sneakers are acceptable. Toe cages/safety stirrups will be supplied where required.

All required safety gear is provided by Alkira Adina Equestrian, including helmets. Participants are welcome to bring their own approved helmet if preferred.

Helmet covers are also welcome for those wanting a more traditional show presentation (such as black, navy, or velvet styles).

Official Horsemanship Show Series shirts will also be available for optional purchase closer to the event.

Will photos be available?

Yes.

A professional photographer will be attending the event to capture moments throughout the series, including preparation, partnership, groundwork, and show experiences.

Photos will be available for families to purchase after the event.

We know these experiences are special, and we want families to have lasting memories of the journey.

Why is the program priced the way it is?

The Alkira Adina Horsemanship Show Series is designed to give participants access to a genuine horsemanship and competition experience without families needing to step fully into the world of horse ownership.

While this is a premium small-group program, it also replaces many of the hidden costs, responsibilities, and logistical pressures that often come with owning or leasing a horse.

Families are able to access:

  • experienced, educated horses

  • coaching and support

  • tack and equipment

  • facilities and arena access

  • horse preparation experiences

  • structured competition opportunities

  • safety equipment

  • professional staffing and supervision

…without needing to take on the full realities of horse ownership behind the scenes.

Because while the horse world is beautiful, it can also be wonderfully chaotic.

This program means parents do not need to:

  • purchase a horse float that costs more than a small car

  • upgrade to a 4WD purely for towing on weekends

  • organise agistment, feed, farrier visits, dentistry, saddle fitting, or transport

  • stand in the rain filling hay nets before work

  • trudge through winter mud feeding a pony at 6am before heading into the office

  • manage unexpected veterinary bills that can exceed the cost of this entire program in a single visit

Instead, families can access the meaningful parts:
the partnership, the learning, the responsibility, the growth, the preparation, and the show experience itself.

For many participants, this offers something incredibly special:
the opportunity to experience the world of horsemanship deeply and authentically, without needing to fully restructure family life around horse ownership.

Can adults participate?

Yes.

While many equestrian programs focus heavily on children, the Alkira Adina Partnership Show Series welcomes adult participants as well.

Horsemanship is not something people outgrow. For some adults, this may be the beginning of a long-held dream. For others, it may be a chance to reconnect with horses, build confidence, or experience the show environment in a supportive and educational setting.

Participants are matched thoughtfully based on experience, confidence, and suitability, with the same strong focus on partnership, communication, safety, and learning across all ages.

Alkira Adina, we believe horses have a remarkable way of meeting people exactly where they are, whether they are 8 or 58.

Will the series continue beyond 2026?

We certainly hope so.

The 2026 season marks the inaugural beginning of the Alkira Adina Partnership Show Series, and it has been intentionally designed as a carefully limited foundation year.

Our vision is to continue growing the series into future seasons, with 2027 already anticipated to build upon what begins this year.

In many ways, this is just the beginning.
