Winter

Winter comes around every year and some parts of the year are just too wet, stormy, foggy and windy to safely spend time with the horses. We head off to the local community crentre (usually the Aberfoyle Park Community Centre) for some indoor experiences. The community centre is amazing as it offers things that the paddocks and arena can't such as a kitchen (for cooking horse treats) and a room to move and groove on.

Plus there's hot coffee, a lovely waiting area, and a flushing loo too! (We have the camping toilet near our arena and a bucket and soap for hand washing).

What happens at the Community Centre?

When the weather outside turns wild and woolly, we’ve got the perfect indoor adventure waiting just for you! At the Aberfoyle Park Community Centre, we transform winter days into fun and engaging learning experiences, specially designed for our neurodiverse and immunocompromised clients, and anyone else who needs a cozy, indoor setting.

In the warm and welcoming kitchen, we whip up delicious treats (often for our beloved horses!) while sneaking in a dash of math, a sprinkle of social skills, and a pinch of communication practice. Imagine the smell of fresh cookies mingling with laughter and lively conversation.

Meanwhile, the multipurpose room is where the real magic happens. It’s not your typical theory class—oh no! Here, we turn learning into a full-body experience. Picture yourself refining your rope skills, zipping around on scooter boards, and balancing on wobble boards. All these activities are cleverly designed to boost your math, literacy, and communication skills without a single dull moment.

So, come join us and turn those blustery winter days into an exciting indoor adventure that’s both educational and incredibly fun!
